New 2017 Jeep Compass at Antioch Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for Antioch, IL
Are you in the market for a compact SUV that is fun driving around-town, has acclaimed fuel-economy in the front-wheel-drive version, and has a persuasive price in comparison to the others in its class? The five-passenger Compass hatchback stands out from the crowd with its ingrained Jeep ruggedness mixed with its "all conditions" versatility, and is certainly a contender for what you are seeking! With its original flip-down speakers in the tailgate (available) and an off-road mode on the 4WD-- within the available Freedom Drive II system-- you'll find that the Compass will spin you around a bit but then settle on the right direction!
Under the Compass's Hood
The Jeep Compass comes standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque. That is fused with the front-wheel drive configuration. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 172 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque is put on AWD trims as standard. The 2.0-liter in the Latitude is affixed to a continuously variable transmission, and the 5-speed manual transmission (standard) goes with a 2.0-liter on the Sport model (or an automatic 6-speed style transmission). Standard on all trims of the 2017 Compass are a customized and touring-tuned suspension, a tilt steering wheel, and the 'Speed Control' mode within the cruise control. The Compass can and will tow up to 2,000 pounds when put with the correct gear. The Sport trim has the potential for the Freedom Drive II system, which has a crawl mode in its accented CVT. In Edmunds testing, an AWD 2017 model with the six-speed transmission got from 0 to 60 mph in 9.4 seconds (2.4-liter engine).
Design of Jeep Compass
Any Compass can also make use of the Freedom Drive II Off-Road Group. Standard inside for tech is the Uconnect Voice Command with Bluetooth system, which accesses a remote USB port for transferring or playing files, SiriusXM Radio (with 1 year trial subscription), and also allows handsfree calling via Address Sync. There are 2 trims making up the Compass trim selections (and a few versions on those): the Latitude and the Sport. Standard on the Sport is a USB port next to an aux port, a tilt-only steering wheel, Bluetooth phone/audio connectivity, foglights, air-conditioning, 60/40-split rear seatbacks that fold down, cruise control, a 4-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The Sport trim has two other versions: the Sport SE or the 75th Anniversary Edition. The Sport SE model has a matching gloss-gray body trim, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel (with audio controls). The High Altitude Edition gets a sunroof and leather upholstery. The Latitude model has a version named the 'High Altitude Edition'. The Latitude central model pulls in the Sport's features as standard, then adds 17-inch wheels, a few features from the Power Value Group, and has an optional tonneau cover (Package option). A sunroof appears up on top of the 75th Anniversary package, with four 18-inch bronzed alloy wheels, and a remote engine starter. There's an informational display, a garage-door opener, a cargo cover, and an alarm in the Security and Cargo Convenience Group. Four-wheel drive 2017 Compass trims are augmented by the All-Weather Capability Group, and there is an option for the Uconnect Wi-Fi internet connection / Wi-Fi hotspot that the dealer can get in there for you.
