Pre-Owned 2019 Jeep Cherokee near Chicago Illinois
2019 Jeep Cherokee by Chicago Illinois
While some compact SUVs have been tamed to provide more car-like ride quality, the Jeep Cherokee remains one of the few entries that sticks with its rugged, off-road-optimized characteristics. As a result, the Cherokee is the ideal compact vehicle to go with if you want to conquer the most troublesome of trails. With the 2019 model year, now produced by Chrysler, the Cherokee is close to the end of its fifth production, or “KL,” cycle. And the nameplate is making sure that the KL model goes out with a bang, thanks to a generous list of updates and additions. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee is currently split into eight trims, four of which are the Latitude, Latitude Plus, Trailhawk®, and Limited.
The Latitude, which is the base-level trim, is powered by the 2.4-liter MultiAir® inline 4-cylinder engine, which produces 184 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. It is pinned to a 9-speed automatic transmission, and it includes stop-start technology to eliminate unnecessary burning of fuel (thus improving fuel economy). You have the choice between two drivetrain types: front-wheel drive, or 4×2; and four-wheel drive, or 4×4. If you go with the latter, Chrysler will add Selec-Terrain®, which is a traction management system that enables powertrain adjustments to accommodate virtually any road or weather condition. Designed as a five-seater, the Cherokee Latitude provides 128 cubic feet of passenger volume, as well as 24.6 cubic feet of cargo volume, which is measured from the rear seats to the liftgate. This area is accompanied by a cargo management system for allowing the attachment of a first aid kit and a storage locker, among other components. At the front are 6-way manually adjustable driver and passenger seats.
For comfort and convenience, the Latitude provides features such as six-speaker audio, Bluetooth® wireless technology for audio streaming and hands-free phone operation, a 3.5-inch black-and-white TFT driver-information display, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ for smartphone-based control (new for this model year), a USB port and an audio jack for playing music from portable devices, Uconnect® 4 infotainment integration, and a 7-inch touchscreen. (This replaces 5-inch in the previous models.) For safety, the SUV includes eight airbags (dual front impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, dual front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and dual roof-mounted side curtain airbags), a rearview camera, electronic stability control, LED daytime running lamps, all-speed traction control, electronic roll mitigation, speed control, hill start assist, an accident response system, and a theft-deterrent system.
Although the Latitude Plus, like its base-level namesake, is also powered by a MultiAir® engine, it offers you a choice of a more fuel-efficient engine, which is a 2.0-liter Tigershark turbo I4 that pumps out 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. (The Tigershark is also available on other higher-level trims.) Upgrades on the Latitude include an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way power lumbar support, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a one-year free subscription to SiriusXM® Radio.
The Trailhawk® is distinctive as most off-road-optimized trim of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Powered by a 3.2-liter Pentastar® V6-which churns out 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque-it is the only trim that has a standard 4×4 drivetrain, as well as a locking rear differential and a super-low 51.2-to-1 crawl ratio. In addition, the suspension is tuned to keep its undercarriage farther away from damage than on the other trims, and it is the only variant with hill descent control. Upgrades on the Trailhawk® include dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch TFT color display in place of the black-and-white 3.5-inch one, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen instead of the 7-inch. Safety additions and enhancements at this trim level consist of blind-spot and cross-path detection.
Positioned as the mid-tier trim is the Limited. At this level, Chrysler adds leather seat trim, seat and steering-wheel heating ability, memory system for the driver’s seat and side mirrors, and 8-way power adjustability and 4-way power lumbar support extended to the front passenger seat. Comfort and convenience enhancements and additions at the Limited trim level include remote start, a garage-door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. For safety, a panic alarm is added to spruce up the theft-deterrent system.
