How Often Should Tires Be Replaced?

Tires are one of the most crucial components of any vehicle. To ensure that your car, truck, or SUV performs at its peak capability, you should keep an eye on tire wear and replace your tires at regular intervals. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommends replacing your tires every six years. Factors such as wear and overloading can cause your tires to degrade more quickly.

How Often Should You Rotate Tires?

Tire wear can depend on where the tire is on the vehicle. Tire rotations are an important part of regular maintenance to make sure your tires are worn at an even pace. We recommend rotating your tires every 6,000 to 8,000 miles, or every six months. You can also make it easier to remember by rotating your tires during scheduled oil changes.

How to Read Your Tire Size

You may have noticed the series of letters and numbers on your tires' sidewalls. These indicate the size, type, and performance of the tires. The first letter designates type, and is like a P for "passenger" or LT for "light truck". The next three numbers are the width of the tire, measured in millimeters. The next two numbers indicate height as an aspect ratio. For example, "65" means that the height of the tire is 65% of the width. The R, which should come next, stands for "radial." Finally, the last two numbers designate the diameter, in inches.

While this may seem confusing, our staff has years of experience and will be able to make sure your new tires match your old tires. We'll set you up with the right tires for your car, truck, or SUV, and get you back on the road in no time.
